A Step in Another Direction

I’m excited to share a new evolution in my sculpting journey! While sculpting animals remains my greatest passion, I’ve been exploring different finishing techniques beyond traditional firing and glazing.

Some of my past glazed pieces—like my Gorilla and Orangutan—turned out beautifully, but I’ve also experimented with oil paints, acrylics, and mixed mediums, discovering new ways to bring life to my sculptures. One of my recent pieces blends acrylic layers on the body with glazed details on the hooves, eyes, and tongue, creating a striking contrast in textures.

Now, I’m ready to fully embrace this approach and refine it further. Mixed mediums offer incredible creative possibilities, and I already have an exciting concept in mind—a tiger sculpture with a painted body, where the stripes will be fired to give them a raised shine!

This is a direction I’m thrilled to explore, and I can't wait to share more of these innovations with you all. Stay tuned!
